About Matthew
Matthew Benson is one of Arizona’s leading figures in media relations and communications. With unique experience working at the highest levels of government and media, Matthew is a trustworthy source for reporters on deadline and a credible voice for corporations and campaigns in need of strategic communications guidance. He is also a multiple-time honoree as Arizona’s “Best PR Person” (2013, 2019, 2020, 2021), as named by voters of the Arizona Capitol Times’ Best of the Capitol Awards, and Veridus is a repeat winner as “Best PR Firm” (2017, 2019 and 2020).
Prior to joining Veridus in 2013, Matthew served as Director of Communications and chief spokesman for Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. In that role, he was responsible for the management and coordination of all executive communications, including the Governor’s media appearances, official statements, public remarks and use of social media.
In 2010, Matthew was Director of Communications for Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett. Earlier, he worked in the professional media for a decade as an award-winning reporter for The Arizona Republic (2005-2009) and Fort Collins Coloradoan (2000-2005).
Matthew was born and raised near Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s in Journalism (1999). Matthew now lives in Scottsdale with his wife and son.
